In January this year I had two dreams that showed me that satan wasn’t happy with what the Lord has given to me to do for Him.
At the time I was a bit lax with my prayer life…well because I was in a wilderness season and I had taken a kind of break from “active Christianity” to deaden myself to some things which I felt like God had not done for me.
I don’t watch movies; I screen them and mostly watch only Christian movies once in a green moon but in that season I started bingeing on Jenifa.
I kind of stopped my prayer time/became really lax with praying in tongues. When I did, I could clearly hear Jenifa’s “how is you” intruding into my time with God. God’s voice was receding from my consciousness and the world’s was getting louder.
God thankfully got my attention by leading me to go on a study of Timothy where He re-routed my attention to what mattered (study is on the women at the well blog at www.4thewomenatthewell.com. I recommend it for every woman and man who is called)
He called me back to being FOCUSED.
It wasn’t even up to two weeks but in that short time when my defences were down, satan moved in swiftly.
Holy Spirit I love you.
It was the Holy Spirit who woke me at night after each dream and gave me strength to pray.
And He gave me this verse too:
“Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”
2 Timothy 1:14 NIV
I kept hearing “guard it”.
I had always thought that what God has given to me is small.
I know that the blog is a ministry and yes I have the NGO and speak at places but till date I do not refer to myself as a minister.
That’s because I somehow feel like I just do all these things on the side for God.
But God opened my eyes to see that all these things He has placed in my hands to do are deposits and deposits need to be guarded to grow into what He wants them to be.
In the eyes of God deposits aren’t small; they are mighty.
When we first start out on an assignment for God we wonder “what good is this doing?”
Well, satan won’t fight it if it wasn’t doing any good for God’s Kingdom.
And sometimes it isn’t even a matter of what it’s doing now but what it would do later.
Its easier to kill something when its little than when it’s grown into a strong tree.
satan understands this fact but sadly many of us don’t. We think “Lord see what you gave me, see what I am doing, it’s inconsequential”.
We become lax and we stop caring and all of a sudden that deposit which would have grown to a mighty shade for lots of birds to come take protection in its shade die before it has even begun.
“Jesus said, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it?
It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds,
but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.”
Never think that your deposit is small.
It has potential. Jesus knows this. Satan does too. So stand fast and stay on guard.
A weak Christian cannot fulfil his assignments in the path of walking in God’s purpose for his life.
The word and a vibrant prayer life is non- negotiable.
Some things might have to go so you can focus on what God has for you to do.
Let them go.
“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.”
I Corinthians 6:12 NKJV
Stay strong and stand guard.
God help us all
